"We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort” -Jesse OwensHe was a grandson of a slave, an African American and participated in the 1936 olympics in Berlin. At that time, it was under the Nazi rule and Hitler was in power. Whatever obstacles Jesse faced, he pushed it aside and focused on his dream. He was successful at attaining 4 gold metals- 100m, 200m, 400mm relay and long jump. This track-and-field star electrifies the world but was not accepted by Hitler because of his color thus the latter refused to shake hands with him. Despite all of his immense fame, he was not overly proud or boastful. Many (including myself) adores the ‘fastest man alive’ for being so humble. His winnings opened up the door for other African American athletes and he was an inspiration to everyone. back to top? |
