Public vs private
Yes, I'm aware that whatever you post online is public and is tedious to put really put down everything. But one thing I don't do, is to put this URL up on my social media descriptions nor in its content and have shared with 10 friends or less.

I don't have the answer to why my blog's name is shuddups, but one thing I do remember clearly is that I created it so that I can look back at my thoughts, language, activities, degree of lameness, what kind of pictures I took, the friends and hung out with. Unlike tumblr, blogger doesn't have the "reblog" function which makes me stick to original photos and find one that suits the post. Unlike twitter, the labels in blogger redirects me to all my previous posts. I used to create links to friends' blogs but they all died out after a few months.

And its 2015, the year I turn 18 *PARTEHHHH*. If you're around me often, you'll know that every year I get excited to be a year older so I can reach the holy number '18'. What truly gets my blood jumping is that I can read through all my letters (I keep it in a box), blogs and the posts (I have a number of them), and my diaries from 4 years old (I have about 5/6 journals?). I still wonder why did I have a diary at 4 and unbelievably curious of what I have written in it. I made the promise to myself in primary 4 where I can open everything up at the age of 18, which at that point in my life was the ideal age to be alive. In my opinion, more freedom, more money, less responsibilities.

I'm actually more nervous than excited because ever since I could think on my own, I always give myself expectations and goals.

Leading a group is so awkward
Welcome to the polytechnic stage where you get to experience a lot of different kinds of camps.
I am in my second year now but the role of a GL (group leader) is still very new and girl I AM SCARED DEEP DOWN.

So this year, it was really interesting to be part of the helpers for ODAC (Outdoor Adventure Club) training. And it was really awkward for me, I think the freshies felt the vibe too. So throughout the games and group interaction, I swear I was not prepared for this. Well, for you guys who have gone through multiple camps, you would get the general idea but I don't. What I resorted to was to be the lame one because that's just my natural state, like 99% of people i hung out with said so. And my partner Javier decided to join in the fun. The thing is, our group was "moving around/competing" with Deyang and Min Xuan's group and hell they are crazy too. (originally wanted to use the word 'were' but they are/is, whatever).

How to turn a boring game fun
Our first station was about making shapes with a long rope as a team while we took away your senses (visual, hearing, verbal) and I didn't read the long ass training proposal details (oh why suzana why) but my lucky stars helped me out because I played this game in secondary 3 phew! Okay so the freshies were all blinded and muted except for the supreme leader in that round and instead of helping out my group, I went to entertain the other group with my mighty distractions. Before I realised, the other GLs had grass with them as they couldn't touch girls so they came out with their own weapons. One dude almost slapped me when I blew in his ear or something. And that was basically entertainment.

What to do with extra time
Surprisingly, our two groups were so fast that we ended early at the second station. It's good to have that teamwork but gosh we had 30 minutes extra and we with the help of the station masters, we merged groups and played the idk what is it named, "Guess who started the move" where 1 person is taken away and has to find out who starts the move that everyone is doing. And they were again, surprisingly good at it, can be Mediacorp's actors and actresses already.

How to remember names
You have a bunch of new friends going round introducing yourself and you try to mentally take note of every single of of it and its hard in the given time we had. And in the future trainings, they'll be like "Hey Suzana, remember me?". So I had such an intelligent plan. And the plan was to disguise my name so that every training they would get mind-screwed. It was a big fail, they figured it out eventually. My point is, its just hard to remember names so please gimme some tips if you have any thank you. (maybe I'm so used to having juniors having name tags on their uniform which is so convenient for GLs)

At the end of the training, made some lovely friends and I hope they learnt a little or two from this "teamwork training". It was successful due to those who came with an open mind and the organised and hardworking committee.

ps; the blue t-shirt is familiar isn't it?

Random thoughts
A lot of athletes that I know are extremely satisfied with their workout when they feel the burns and muscle aches. A few studious friends do not feel that their study time is fully productive until their brains are tired at the end of the day. For me, I do nothing much and I feel slightly happier when I find marks of contusion around different parts of my body after a week of activities. What makes it more strange is not being able to recognize which activity caused it or was it just a mere accident. Woohoo temporary ugly tattoo.

Why am I blogging this? So that in 10 years time, I will be (inshaallah) looking back and laughing because by then, I would've experienced weirder things. Would I? What if my kids became weird too? Hello kids in the future world, Im 18 this year. This is the era where we blog/tweet/insta/tumblr and post our minds online.

What if:
I wrote a letter to my future children on my eighteenth birthday and only let them open on their eighteenth birthday?

Opening Ceremony 2015

Up till now, I'm still learning to cope with the admin work, lesson planning, choreographing for class performance, basic b performance and instructors performance. Not forgetting learning new signs each week after a long day in school gets me kind off brain dead by the end of the day.

Now that it's CCA step down due to school break, how do I keep these signs fresh in my thoughts? As I plug in to my music, the lyrics flow through my ears and exit from my hands.

Dealing with customers
My previous job left me a lot of questions hanging in my mind. Even though my course of study analyzed the different customer behaviours and techniques to overcome them, some of them did not make sense or maybe it was just me.

Here's one:

Me: “Alright, ma’am, your total is [price].”
Customer: “I believe those are all supposed to be 40% off.”
Me: “No, ma’am, these are all regular price.”
Customer: “No, I believe everything is 40% off.”
Me: “No, ma’am, there may be a sale like that upstairs in the Ladies’ area, but we don’t have any discounts like that here in Men’s.”
Customer: “Well, there’s a sign in your front windows that says everything’s 40% off!”
Me: “Well, perhaps I’m mistaken. Would you mind showing me where you saw that?”
(She leads me out the front door of our store and points to a large sign in the window.)
Customer: “See? 40% off!”
Me: “Yes, ma’am, but it says 40% off ‘Selected Items.'”
Customer: “Right! And these are the items I’ve selected!"

Hilarious.

We only have one body
The part where every excited soul is given only one body is driving me crazy. I separate these activities into different categories where I consider the following: Compulsory, Optional, Stress Relief, Education, Family, Friends, Self reward, Positive, Negative, Energy level.

For example, ODAC vs Promotional ceremony vs Unit annual camp. ODAC is physical training and they needed helpers but Im not in the main committee so I'm not obliged to help all the time eventhough they are my friends; promotional ceremony is stress free as there is no preparation or much things to do and to reward myself for going to school and enduring; unit annual camp is annual hah and definitely stressful, education of juniors and friends.

ODAC: compulsory, extremely high energy, stress relief.
PC: compulsory, low energy, stress relief, self reward.
UC: optional, extremely high energy, positive, education.

= life is a hard decision and at times you have to make decisions, and I took up the CLT course so I have to do my "job" and commit to what I signed up for.

Or you can run away by saying "I got no choice what", we all have choices.
