Unsunny Sunday
After tuition, I didn't study outside and decided to go straight home. Oh my god I truly regretted it. My comfy pillows and huggable soft toys were starring at me with intense desire and ofcourse I had to give in. This nearing and definitely dreadful examinations are causing students to go insane. Hair loss, sudden outbreak of pimples, headaches are nothing new to the generations of stressful teenagers.

Its ironic how Shaz and I beautifully sketched a schedule to separate the subjects evenly but can't keep up to it. I havent been doing exam papers for math, maybe because part of me knows that I need to narrow down my attention to humanities and Malay. Yes, conversing in Bahasa Baku might not be glamorous but who needs that. Not important, not urgent (or what I'd prefer to call NUNI). Jika tidak dipecah ruyung, dimana boleh mendapat sagunya? I have been constantly using this peribahasa to remind myself to do what I need to do to achieve my goals.

If there's one thing that makes me secure (for now) are my grades. I'm shaking with Malay right now but there's no point lamenting anymore. I've got a month to go till O levels and I am considering meditating to clear my mind when it's overworking.

Finally decided to take a look at the "Guide to Situational Writing Formats" and I've discovered that there's a possibility of having a blog post question for the exams! If I'm following the format strictly, I'm supposed to 'provide commentary on a particular subject online' as stated. The headline must be attention grabbing, usually one line summary. Interviews and quotes are necessary to boost your marks, and there's no smiley face, or links, pictures, videos, which is disappointing. Imagine us taking our examinations through actual blogging. That'd be something that might come 10 years later. Envious to the future batch of students.

Let the flames begin
A few posts back, Shazlina and I planned to try out the new black pepper flamer supposedly today. Sorry but our tongues weren't patient enough to control for 5 long school days. It was irresistible (the pictures were staring at us). As Macdonalds seems to be an ideal place to mug, 2 of our schoolmates were there too. The 4 of us took a break to have dinner at exactly 7.08pm (break fast). It was sweet for them to wait for a whole 5 mins till the azan played. It wasn't extraordinary but I enjoyed the meal as a whole. The seasoning once again spiced up the fries. They should consider selling it all year!

What's next? A new burger at burger king? Bring it on.

Jia you!
During one particular subject today,

I just had home cooked dinner by my mother and decided to write a short update. If you take a gander at my classmates, you’d realize that 90% of them are giving their all for the nearing exam(ssss). Me being me, I weighed my regular school bag plus hand-carried items and it weighed 6 kilos. Thus, I can fool myself into thinking that I’m regularly training my shoulder muscles and biceps. Imagine those days where I had additional uniform, boots to lug around school for three years.

come on brain, humanities is going to be okay! The furer is waiting for me to study him, so tatas!

Inter class games
ok that’s enough exercise for a month.

Because Jurong West does not have sports day, we have inter class competitions. Oh yes, other than debates, cleanliness and best class, we have sports competitions. :) My class didn’t even plan for who’s participating. We just came as a class and played when we wanted to. I had a ‘C’ on my beep for the games held at the Indoor Sports Hall. When we made our way to the parade square for semis, my role was ‘WD’ which if i’m not mistaken was the Wing Defender! Well we weren’t playing seriously so I got the opportunity to defend for the first time. It wasn’t easy, at all.

So yes I have influenced my classmates to join the Eight. If you have been following my recent posts, you would have known that I have been slowly spreading this pose to everyone :) Nothing wonderful. I just thought that it’d be cool.

While the girls scored 9 goals for netball, the boys.. didn’t score a single goal. It was hilarious watching them form above. Even so, we continued cheering them on although we expected them to be exhausted halfway running. Hahahha yes, we are proud of everyone that represented the class or even attended to support. I observed that they were embarrassed to face us as they lost 4-0 twice. It’s okay because we witnessed the entire match! ahahahha

Double down Burger @ KFC
Close to zinger, but definitely the largest burger i’ve eaten. Infact, I don’t think this is legal to be a burger! Don’t burgers have buns on the outer layers? Yes, this is the ultimate Double Down. This was introduced to me by a few friends. Some even doubted that I can finish it. Taking it as a challenge, Shazlina and I headed to KFC on a Sunday. Truthfully, I hesitated while queueing, afraid that half of it would go to waste.

You see how Shaz can fit it into her mouth while i’ve outstretched mine?!
Oh we damn right completed all of it (inclusive of drinking) in nineteen minutes. It’s not as easy to bite multiple levels of oily ingredients- 2 chicken, 2 turkey bacon, hashbrown, cheese. Plus, we ordered fries too. Do you understand how much this accomplishment meant to us? She told me that we should not force ourselves when we burped, and two times means we’ve over eaten. HAHAAHA YA RIGHT. I feel beyond satisfied even up till now.

Think you can handle it? Next up is Macdonald’s double black pepper flamer. This coming Sunday is waiting patiently for us. Anyway, what’s with the doubles? Half is cuter :)

Wild&Young outing (14 April)
It's two weeks to exams, a Sunday meant for mugging especially for graduating students. We are serious, but sometimes we need a day off. Actually, I’ve been giving myself a few “day offs” which I will regret on the day before Mid year exams. This aint any ordinary outing, it’s for a good cause. Oh yes, my hair was mussed as I just couldn’t get up from my bed at 5am okay. The rainwater that was attacking us from above just got sharper as the time passed. Thankfully, the clouds cleared on time and we got into our positions before the race started. Windbreaker was my savior for the day.

I have influenced one with the Eight-pose.

NCDCC Day 2013 (12 April 2013)
Officially, this marks the last NCDCC DAY PARADE for me. It’s an honor to be in the Guard Of Honor (GOH Gold Unit) Contigent, once again. It was only possible

I’ve to a confession to make, I didn’t clip my collar. It’s was an obstacle! Jun Zhi and I were stretching our eyeballs out for Isa to have a trio-ASM photo for the last time. When with them, I instantly reflect on how unmotivated I am to do other things in life. Hahah as we live like an hour ride away (It’s considered far in Singapore), we don’t bother to meet up.

Hiroshiiiiii. This encik is a year faster than me as his school just started NCDCC and they used all the potential leaders. Yes, by observing just like that, I predict that his school would be lucky to have him. I didn’t get to snap with the rest like Alwany, Aaron.

OK so before you judge me, there are a majority of boys in NCDCC and all the girls that I know of are not here. But this one I have to say, is gayyyyy. He’s a thousand times hyper and energetic than me. If you find me talkative, oh you won’t survive with him. Ladies, if you’re looking for constant entertainment, here you go. HAHHA DAMN he was much smaller two years ago. I can’t seem to get hold of the photos we took but finally I’ve got one. balabalabalabala *does the finger shake thing*

Oh my ear-piercing lovelies. Not all was in as everyone was scattered, running against time.

The number ones featuring my ex ma’am. It’s weird how I still call her that when she no longer is the overall in charge. Beside me is my CLT Casey who was my senior in my lower sec days. Hmm, she’s back because she loves us, right? Anyway, it sucks every toilet break time/ changing time as Im like an awkward turtle.

Believe it or not, this is the Sir who trained me in my Senior-Non-Commisioner-Course (SNCO). He is shorter than me. It is a big deal even until now because he tries to bully everyone but he has to look up (literally) to them. Ahhh, I miss NEKRA.

This is my only photo with Zhi yao! He is secretly noisy but not chatty. Im not sure how to put it, but he is my savior for a lot of times I’m alone. hahhahah ok thanks ah suzy. He’s the only non-aqua in the group of aquas.

The best people who were carrying my stuff around, especially Selly. So they “choaped” the toilet and laid out my number 4 uniform. From head gear change to garters. They are the most patient. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t force them to do it. After marching out, we were only given 5 minutes to change for our Precision Drill Squad performance which had a really unexpected positive feedback from other school’s cadets’ tweets.

Jurong west cadets who attended (except for Darren and Kenneth) It was honestly torturous to get everyone together as we had our different contingents to attend to. So this was the closest.

My inspiring seniors who I looked up to since my first year. I address them as ma’ams now. Im surrounded by lovely people.

Birthday song before marching out of HQ.

Our VP had to make a huge round as Jurong West received both the awards! Sustained and UOPA Gold. *sigh of relief!* We’ve been constantly reminded for a whole year on how all 5 UGs have been consistent in getting Gold. Honestly, I think that we panicked too much.
Some came to support us, and we sort of neglected them. But yes, Im sure they enjoyed the PDS performance.

look at the standardized hentak kaki *very proud of all of them*

Ok from here, Im gonna try to control myself from blogging on NCDCC.

Just a thought
It had never occurred to me to reread my blog. Now that I've (hopefully) gained experience and awareness, how would I judge myself? Before my 13th birthday, I didn't think thrice before posting things up online. Maybe that's the reason to the rule on Facebook that you must be of 13 years of age to be able to create an account. Maybe it's for our own good. On the other hand, I feel that blogging gives you a different feeling from writing in a diary. For me, I share my experiences with the world. Ya duh, it's the Internet. Though it has been less than 5 years, as a child, I have learnt a lot more than I had ever guessed.
My content has drastically changed that its like theres two different people behind this account. Maybe there is? Hmmmm. I'm sure throughout my life, I've seen the world only in a student/child's point of view. In 5 years time, would I judge my-current-little-self, or would I be proud of my slow growth? Whatever it is, I hope for the best for myself.

"Never discount your experiences"

It's past 2am and I have more than 3 hours to rest my eyes. Goodmornight

If you’re impatient, I advice you start from 0.55s. So anyway, can you spot me? HAHA IM HERE.

After 3 days of slow marching, I finally feel the burn. It’s not as easy as you predict.

Cross Country 2013
Timah: Eh want do what pose?
Suzana: Eight. *camera man takes photo*
Timah: Wtf was that?
hahahah because I am a rebel.

Recently, my main posts are all related to NCDCC NCDCC NCDCC NCDCC. Through my updates on this uniformed group, I hope readers gain knowledge on this new organization. OK ENOUGH SUZANA. So finally after 5 consecutive cd posts, it’s time for a break. Annual Jurong West Seconday School event which brings us out of the classrooms. Plus, we were dismissed an hour earlier than planned. *praise the good weather and no delays*

Stationed at 7, the only water point in the entire run, Chong Han was with me. The NCC boys were boisterous but enjoyable to be with. When the truck came to drop off water, we weren’t surprised to find students who tompang-ed at the back.

While waiting for the hall of shame for those who walked really slowly, I blasted pompoms over and over again until it went flat. There was this group of defiant little ones who wanted to take a shorter route. Actually a few groups tried that but no I was stern :)

Sometimes we direct the public. troll. Seriously paiseh. Did you know there are pompoms planted in Chinese Garden? It’s a fruit I just got to know! Similar to an apple, just that it’s poisonous. So if I take a bite, will I be like Snow White? No, this silences you. It poisons your throat and you won’t be able to utter a word again. WHY WOULD THEY EVEN PLANT TREES LIKE THESE?

It’s the third cross country. And I don’t seem to have other desires than Macdonalds every year. I change like an eagle. Plus, we had to conserve our energy for parade later on. Long bus ride back to school. So yes, the next update will be back to my current favourite topic.

By the way, if you assumed automatically that I didn’t run and used my parade as an excuse, you are wrong. I ran to the tentage before any group started. Being late helps me stay healthy.

It’s the season of fishing; if you know what i mean.

Last rehearsal
Im gonna post these photos in the GOH 2013 whatsapp group and troll them.
These are photos from 2011 where I was still a lance corporal. Definitely this parade had tremendously made an impact on me. It was through foot drill did I realize the small but noticeable common mistakes. From here, I got to enjoy the company of camaraderie. Just last week, I bumped into some of them in HQ- Some have advanced to became cadet lieutenants while some disappeared. The rest who were also sec 2 at that time have transformed with me. We are back for more. There is a huge difference between these two contingents. There are benefits of SUPER KILAT GOH (2011) and GOH GOLD UNIT (2013). Haha even the nicknames changed.

Instead of just learning the special moves for the GOH contingent only, I observed how different sirs explain the foot drill. It’s really fascinating when you can differentiate the different style of teaching and controlling. I truly respect to those who are patient but strict at the same time. I have been trying to be that kind of leader for 5 months already and this is the right chance for me. Although I’ve passed out, don’t tell the rest that.

One of the advantages of being Suzana is that I am treated the same and no more screams of “Yes ASM!” is heard in this contingent. Being the 4th shortest man out of a contingent of 40 plus is okay la. As they confidently assumed that I was sec two, it wasn’t awkward to interact. When I was in their boots (lol), I secretly feared the staff sergeants with authority. I kept things to myself although there had been major problems with the contigent.

On wednesday, more of them found out my true identity as Jurong West was invited to perform our Precision Drill Squad’s 2nd runner up performance. ACSI is performing first thus they have lesser time to change to lunatic.

Ok I can’t stand holding the water mist gun too still for long, I need to let if fly in the air sometime.

Hydrogen gas test
Firstly, I just can’t comprehend to why we had to fall in at exactly 3.30pm when focus test ends at the same time. Haha now that I come to think of it, I realize the teacher who was lecturing us on the importance of coming earlier for test had wasted our time. You see, we changed and reached class 5 minutes before 2.30pm which apparently wasn’t early enough.

Darren was the parade commander (he has been waiting forever). It’s his last chance to shine and Im truly proud of all of us who have gone through 4 years of running for the sirs favourite walls and trees. Being the IC of the NCDCC contingent, I turned to glance at my cadet mates for the last time in a squad. Before facing the front, Ainah and I pinky promised to not tear at all.

Our Passing Out Parade was held at the hall and I had to clench my fist damn tightly to control my emotions. During the two mini rehearsals, I constantly assured myself “It’s not the last time”.
Literally in a blink of an eye (ok la i closed my eyes for 10 seconds at least to prepare myself mentally), PC commanded “Hormat kehadapan, HORMAT” for arrival of Mr Gan.

Faizal, Ainah, Chye Yeun, Zhi Yao received awards for outstanding contributions and as they marched down one by one, I smiled widely to them, and they returned it proudly :)
Mr Gan gave his speech which was compressed in his version of "Hare and Turtle” story which made me reflect on my sec 2-3 days. Then a sudden flash of me whining to my mum on how lame uniform groups are when I was forced to put it as my first choice. No regrets, phew!

So finally, I took my last deep breath. and I shouted it, *left right left* “POP!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Yes, I was hesitant to throw my beret up in the air, afraid that I would not have the accuracy to catch my pride. I held in beret still on my head with both hands, it just didn’t want to come off, you know?

It wasn’t hard to differentiate my beret from the rest :) If you get it.

We were greeted by our children with hugs, cards, and huge posters. Yes, it was unexpected. If you thought they were sweet, you thought wrong. We walked ourselves into sticky flour and dots were all over me. I didn’t dare to open my eyes. Even my phone decided to swim in the sink. That really shattered my heart. I know it’s just a device that can be bought, but hello, please be considerate and at least save my phone.

The cake was delicious :P I thanked them for all the efforts on the cards and collecting money because I was there last year and it was torturous. My SCLT behind was being cheeky but he taught me a lot in the short period of time he was in Jurong West. My cadets are lucky to have him from the moment they take over the unit.

Ofcourse I took pictures with my friends from other cca. I didn’t get to use my phone camera much. *sigh* I even wasted my efforts in bringing my polaroid. *STANDING OVATION FOR SUZANA* Ps; this chiobu on my left who calls me “handsome” every time, really thinks he’s some hot stuff. hahah

I wanted to finish this bottle of water as I needed space in my bag to fit in my full uniform. Mission accomplished.

I didn’t check the time nor my phone (because it was missing) and my ideas were put to waste. Everything didn’t go according to MY PLAN. It wasn’t me who was supposed to be receiving the flour. One fine day, someone will do my job for me. HAHA.

Those heartfelt letters were adorable and funny and they can finally tease me. But what really snapped me was when a cadet came to me and asked innocently “ASM, when will you be coming back?”

This does not mark the end of my journey in NCDCC.

Hopefully, I’ll be back.
