Recently there has been a second version of "save my world" which involved the Ah boys to men cast. Is it just me or did they feature the song at the right timing? Yes, so what is all the fuss here in Singapore? The haze the haze the haze the haze. This is what happens when we rarely experience a dangerous country-wide problems. I observe that Singaporeans actually get more united when such challenges arise. For the whole of Thursday, I was literally locked at home but I understood why my mum did so. It was for my own health. We tried our best to seal the house, minimizing air flow. I remembered when there was a first jump of PSI reading by a hundred and it was 290. Random friends started checking on me, reminding me to stay home and to get a N95 mask also known as respirator. I did some research on it and briefly got to know how it actually works. Even with the knowledge of the harmful particles that would be in me forever, I decided to go out the next day. BAM, the moment I stepped out of the house, it shot up to 401. Until now, I'm still astounded that my mum and I were laughing at ourselves when the news reached us. Oh yah, it is now a norm to wear a protection. More than 50 percent of the people I set eyes on today had their mouth and nose covered. This is when people actually put aside appearance and care for their safety. Bus drivers, constuction workers, teenagers, aunties going markets (yes nothing's stopping them), shoppers, little children. Something I was impressed of. Ofcourse theres other heedless citizens out there, like me, who do not bother to purchase a face gear. And was exposed to the polluted air quite a lot. The fascinating thing is that when I'm focused on something else, the haze is simply chucked to the back of my mind. After studying, I got lost on my way home. Even though it was already dark and there's constant reminders to stay indoors, I felt truly safe out in the open. I was walking by then, duh. I ended up breeze walking to unknown directions till I saw a familiar building. JEM. Great, just great. At least I familiarized myself with Jurong more today. :) back to top? |
