Sign to Mandarin
Learning a language is a commitment man. When there were performance trainings on top of the weekly classes after lessons, it was long and draggy and you just can't wait to go home to rest. The first time I used sign language in public, it was the most uncomfortable conversation ever. The stares, the eagerness to get a message across, the advanced speakers of sign language going on about a story that was 50% blur.

This arduous phase, with tolerance and determination, will be better.

2.0 Mandarin
Its grammar and sentence structure is slightly similar to Malay. I swear I can't differentiate between the second and third tone when practiced in a genuine conversation. Just like sign language, there will be the fluent speakers who may correct or laugh at you. Either way, these mini experiences is most important as what is taught on paper and audio is vastly different from native speakers' slang. I came across a few instances of random numbers in between words. Chinese culture is foreign yet familiar. For example: Kan yi kan
Wei shen me like that??????

When was the last time you did something crazy for the first time?
As I seek to try new things and test my limits in different situations, never had a 50km hike stopped by my mind. Equipment wise, I was well prepared. Mentally wise, I had came to a realization that this is the longest route that I will be taking since I could ever walk. There were harsher terrains, undesirable weathers and heavier loads on my back and waist. But this one, I didn't know if I could last above 40km. But I did. How can marathoners even run??

I took the same amount of time walking the last 10kilometers as my first 25. Well, it seemed like the route was never going to end. My buddy was the best person to hike with, encouraging me through stories, endless jokes that I couldn't resist from aching my invisible abs and understanding my limits. With or without blasting music, we moved forward and never turned back (after all the effort). The pain in my breaking feet was so overwhelming that my knee wound was easily forgotten.

Mind over body is real. It is amazing and your body will get double the next day.

"you can go overseas with your friends after you turn 18"

A week after 20/09/15 also known as my first legal week, climbers + the girls group went on a 2.50RM trip.

They weren't lying about the pain-balls.

Hari Raya 2013.

Hari Raya; the only festival that I’d never miss. Even if I have any upcoming examination, truckloads of homework or is just not in the mood that year, I will beg my mum to go to my cousin’s place as fast as possible. For the entire fasting month (Ramadhan), I did not have the chance to do our annual shopping for baju kurung. So for the whole of day 1, we became completely high from all the coke and fnn. Farhan faris fazli were our photographers for the day and they got exhausted so quickly. It’s amazing how we can gobble down all the kuehs even after we declared “bloated”. Too much fizzy drinks= an hour of rest. Well, I survived the day with everyone teasing each other on how fat we're are gonna be in the near future. Actually, we were looking out for families with a “Red and white” colour theme but didn’t spot any. And, I finally got to see Ali after 2 years and he didn’t recognise me *applause*. I am so comfortable with them and would not have to worry about anyone making judgements on me. Oh what positive influences we are towards the younger cousins. They will grow up beautiful because we sorta have similar genes. hahahahahaha.

Second last training
This week is just full of tests.
Monday: mother tongue
Tuesday: history sbq, literature
Wednesday: social studies
Thursday: physics
Friday: Amath

Yayyyyyyy. But besides lessons, training today was superb and weirdly energy consuming. Although Darren is not participating in speech day, we just got this today and couldn't wait to take photos. I'm sure the other 23cadets in Singapore receiving it would have the widest smiles too. Boosts up my morale as not long ago I discovered that my English is horrible and it got me demoralized for a moment. But not anymore! Gonna miss Friday's training for NCDCC Day which is replaced with Speech Day in school. Passing out in exactly five days is scary.

Random day of the week.

A pencil lead pierced through my thumb and its finally out after a week and a half!

Just some overdue photos. And if bus buddy’s viewing this, HELLLO TAK MENJADI CLT.
Thanks to the rule of not using handphones for other things than communication with each other in camp, I didn’t manage to provide an album of 3D2Ns. Also, the person who left during mid camp came back with Hersheys! Mehehehe.

Which activity is a must-organise?
FINAL EX. Only in my year did we add in this event. It is a search and rescue mission where a team of cadets (usually 4) crawl their way in. They are required to apply what they’ve learnt, all the rescue techniques. As it is supposedly in a confined space, they are to squeeze through and rescue mannequins and other cadets of different weight and sizes out. Even an arm is to be saved!

Ofcourse, with the help of CLTs was the activity accepted. I got to experience being a victim for collapsing-building rescue in the dark and I finally understand how they feel. And if you need tips for final expedition,
  • Prepare yourself mentally
  • Plan on who to enter first based on strength in what area
  • Check if it’s a boy/girl. Do not rescue a girl if you’re a boy
  • Make sure the top button is unbuttoned if you plan to do collar pull
  • Take exceptionally good care of her neck and head
  • While crawling over her, check what you step on.
  • Communicate with your team, don’t be a hero
  • Constantly check on her
  • Try your upmost best to endure throughout
  • But if you really can’t take it, please inform the in charge
  • Please, PULLING HAIR IS NOT A RESCUE METHOD THANKS
Goodluck!

To smell good or look good?

Finally got a chance to show off my dress, “Ao dai” which I bought at Saigon not long ago.  That’s me trying to pull off the Vietnam traditional wear. Obviously can’t.

As you can see from the model photo I found on google, there’s a tiny hole revealing your skin at your side stomach (aka most people’s weakest link). Well, I got tickled almost the entire day hence I got too beat running around in my not-so-high heels. If I didn’t added height, I might as well sweep and mob the areas I passed.

Kakak Shahirah’s wedding. And me with my dust collecting camera, I finally remembered to take it out with me to an event. You see, before munching on briyani, ayam mask merak, kebab, this soup idk the name, cheese blueberry cake, kuih, ice ream, I ate Macdonalds for brunch. Zhi yao, and Syahindah were the only ones with me at chem class on a Saturday morning.

As you can observe, the rest of my energy was spent at this wedding with gorgeous people. The rest of the photos are published on Facebook.

ps; feel regret deep down that I did not accomplish anything related to studies the rest of the day.

Geylaaang!

Shaki had tuition in the morning so only Nadira came along. Why morning? I plan to do my homeworks on a Sunday night (plus flyer was cancelled yesterday). Had problems going there though. I didn't expect the food court to be that packed. Ate Nasi Ayam Penyet, after how long. hehehe and tapao-ed for Shaki too.

Went to Wak Sah's house at bukit batok, and found out that Yusuf has grown way taller than me. Wak Yak, Ibu Mimi and Ayah Mat were at home too. Wow, Kakak Anur got a young boy already. Whaaaaaao, it just so sad I missed her happy moments. And, kak Nina's doing great and got a job already! And, Im sec two already there's actually a link to this. Chat, I tried to be a ninja and changed the channel for awhile. hahahahahah. Fail.

Doa selamat.

Aunty Yati fetched me to go to Aunty Lina's as it takes more than an hour to take the bus. As we have learnt in history, pilgrimage is religious journey to haj. How cute, while drinking coconut water with Meimei and Faris, they talked about their future and what they would name their kids. And who'd they marry like Coconut tree or banana. Somehow, they were eager to know mine and the details. They went through my texts and called out random names. Adam enjoyed bullying them via words.

After they went to eat, Adam and I saw this dude and shouted "Ehh, boy eh boy! You, turn behind!" He was the boy from Kulai, so he sat down and I said Khairil when it was actually Khairin. Thankss ah Khairin dont remember me, most probably because I was wearing a scarf and seemed rather "shy". Took him a few minutes to knock his head that Im Suzana. Still remembered playing by the trees with everyone at night and there were noises I shan't explain plus fascinating wonders. We all missed those blissful days, a year ago. Khairin thinks Im P5 -.- The whole family came all the way from Malaysia for this event. And bibik Yati came back and I was beaming all the way.
