Last lap (a week before exams)
"Girls lets take a photo!" Too much class in a photo:

My fans can't take their hands off me:

After 141 photos, aint lying about the number: "Girls, we are here to study"

If studying at home means taking a 5 minute break that becomes 3 hours, lying in bed for awhile, having a rabbit that wants to play all the time, then go out, get someone to study with you and not get overly distracted catching up.

I dream.
I dream to have a peaceful life surrounded with the people I love, seeking to discover, learn and venture the world. While we all need some kind of stability in our lives, I am waiting for the day money can take me to places around the world to explore both the complexity and simplicity of different cultures. Owning my own boat to pierce through clear seas of different shades of blue and use my arm strength to paddle in a humble kayak to safe and quiet islands. Currently, I am trapped in my country with commitments which disallows me to pull away from them easily. It is a choice I made for survival for a stable standard of living. I'll get through these years, and hopefully it will not be too long of a wait as Death is hiding and I will never know when I might stumble upon him.

I dream to meet people from all walks of life, and I mean those who grew up in a completely different environment and I wish to befriend them, to know their story, to try to experience something completely new. I had a big dream to make a difference to the world and then a teacher snapped halfway by saying "I meant ambition, like your career". I did not know exactly what job I could live with the rest of my life but isn't the meaning of ambition a strong desire to do something? It is achievable in the smallest ways even back here at home. My Cinderella feet is taking tiny steps.

I dream to enrich people's lives, to empower them to empower others. To spread the love around the globe, I have to handle the fact that love rays do not always bounce back. In fact, the rays might bounce to someone else, and that's all that it matters. :)

YEAR 1 ALMOST COMPLETE
Last exam tomorrow and then the fun begins!

Things to accomplish this school break:
Earn money
Attend abseiling L1 course
Learn to cook proper dishes
Adventure with ODAC mates
Climb like mad
Kayak
Adventure Training Camps at Ubin
Uniform duties

Other than jotting emotions and new experiences and converting it into words, I want to record the same memories through videos. And well.....

My Sony Xperia Z3 Compact has actually been with me for about 5 months now and I'm learning more about it. It's a smaller version than the original one which is convenient enough for me to fit into my back pockets. And the funny thing is that it never occurred to me to do any research because when my previous phone cracked, my dad accompanied and sponsored me to purchase a new one on the day itself heheheheeh. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who needs that sudden emergency therapy. To the point where my school project required video making and my group was working on mobile devices. That's when I knew so much more. Well, I only bought it because of the waterproof function but there was more that I had not discovered.

BCR
It's Wednesday and usually I'd end at 6pm. But today, there's a drill whereby the campus is closed and we all have to study from home. The workload is a lot more and I know I am not independent in terms of listening to lecturer's voices without seeing them moving or me sitting in a hall full of other students. I go through 3 slides and I'm off focus. What more, I'm half-lying comfortably in bed.

But what makes me slightly disappointed in my day is that its a no-climb Wednesday when I have a day off from school. I want to reach and squeeze the water out of the manmade rocks and be so light that I call pull myself up with purely my arm strength. I want to explore Krabi to see what it offers but I too have to be prepared for it.

Well I also have another dilemma where I want to go to 2 school trips and the adventure's dates is a subset of the Bacares' dates. And I really cannot choose. They both have Intention to Treat and all I have to do is sign up. Why cant I split into two halves and enjoy both trips?

Latest materialistic obsession

Adidas zx flux with the variety of colors and designs!!! I used to fancy converse sneaks followed by nike's. Some of them lasted for years while some started tearing after the 3rd month. Beautiful shoe for real tiny feet. They are my ankle-spraining protector, my air (geddit airmax), something that defines my "style". Which changes quite often. But nonetheless, if it ain't comfy, it ain't gonna be used. Unless it's Hard raya or a wedding, where sneakers and boots just don't fit. Maybe it does but my mom would tell me to change out of it. During the last lap of o levels, I was saving up for Macbeth but I spent it on other things i found necessary during the long break.
Throwback to secondary one suzana and syahindah and our selfie before it became in trend. We're the trendsetters. Watch out. We wanted tattoos. Still find them cool. Look at her face and my hands. Our tattoos were sparkly. Oh hello angelowindwalker.

Then it dawned on me, I feel daunted by the prospect of living life with a false success
Should I buy urban skates or a climbing set? Should I save raya money or spend it on both? Should I (finally) touch work money and splurge? I enjoy the sweet adrenaline when I'm on the lofty rock wall. I didn't complete the 15m yesterday at kismis tower. Till we meet again. So many things going on that I did not even sign up for the kayak team which has two extremely physically challenging trainings per week. And there's an adventure camp coming up on September and I deeply want to go for it as well as Fire fighting course. I just hope they don't clash! please. please.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Btw, the video above was only a wall level 5B+. It was the first Lithan vs Suzana challenge also known as our warm up. This was in early March this year.

Barely at stage Act 2 Scene 2
Not only is this the famous balcony scene, it shows the drastic change in Juliet. Previously, she was innocent and definitely not in search for love “It is an honor I dream not of” in A1S3. Because she respects her mother, calling her “Madam” and “What is your will”, she does not like the idea of marriage and love. Furthermore, she’s barely fourteen! Come on, give her some space to think.

In this particular scene, Juliet has evolved to be mature to make her own decisions and to think carefully of the consequences. Although she is independent and daring to give her heart to her parent’s enemy, she is still unsure and insecure. Besides, they have only met in that short period of time “If thou dost love, pronounce it faithfully” It used to be just cheeky romantic infatuated Romeo proving his love through metaphors and continuous compliments,
"The brightness of her cheek would shame those stars
As daylight doth a lamp; her eye in heaven
Would through the airy region stream so bright
That birds would sing and think it were not night.”
(So guys out there trying to impress literature students, quote Shakespeare)
In return, Juliet has managed to express her true feelings but is still afraid thus the audience is aware that she keeps it to herself in the soliloquy in A2S2. On the other hand, melancholy Romeo was lamenting over Rosaline. Ironic how he got over her in an instant and claims that "Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne'er saw true
beauty till this night” when he set eyes on Juliet.

In A3S1, Romeo is overjoyed with Juliet’s acceptance and enters the fighting scene between Mercutio and Tybalt. He has accepted Tybalt as his own and “love thee more than thou canst devise”. Mercutio rages but ended up getting killed, under Romeo’s arms. When Mercutio falls, Romeo realizes that he has soften because of Juliet, “Thy beauty hath made me effeminate , And in my temper soften valor’s steel”. So I'm pausing here, leaving you with something to think about, Romeo is no longer bold and as impulsive as he used to. So is meeting Juliet a good or bad thing for him?

CANtribute
Secondary fours CIP activity on 12 March 2013 was organised by the CIP comm. Being an CIP ambassador, I couldn’t not go either way. Well, it was for a good cause so why not spending the saturday collecting can food while harlem shaking in the lift with your group members!

It was a rare experience for my group as we partially “broke the rules” which was to not enter any of the houses alone. Fortunately, it was Christopher’s home whereby he automatically took out his house keys to enter and headed straight to the kitchen. Unlike other classes, we relied on our own bags to lug the food cans around. Although we had lack of manpower, it was enough complete a few blocks. The programme was helpful as we got to observe the different kinds of attitudes of residents early in the morning.

Deeply thankful to the active volunteers who participated in this activity! Over 4,000 cans collected in less than 3 hours.

Dart Base Visit (16 February 2013)
Firstly, that’s a BA set I’m carrying! Don’t you underestimate this muscular girl.
I’ve been to the furnace, HTA, CDA, a few fires stations, and finally Dart Base! Awe at this inspiring team of people I know existed on paper but never bothered to research to find out more. In sec 2, I was studying about this Disaster Assistance Rescue Team (DART) for a competition and had memorized the details but did not understand. They are trained to do complex rescue missions not only in Singapore! They are also obviously under SCDF therefore that makes me proud somehow, haha.

DART is known worldwide and regarded as one of the best urban search and rescue teams IN THE WORLD. I just had to emphasize. So if your mind is so small and limited as you assume that SCDF do not have anything to do, your choice lah. But if I had captured your interest, do google DART and watch their videos and you might aspire to be like them as well! Here’s one of the videos of it’s training/ challenge/ selection.

ps; fortunate that we have friends from boon lay sec who came with transport. We ‘tompang’ on their humongous bus which could fit 40 students but occupied only 10 seats.

Motivation to run?

For the first time in 2013, I finally managed to persuade myself to run 2.4km. For those people who regularly run, getting 5 points might be nothing. But 14.01minutes seems to be a huge challenge. GAH! Ok some tips for those who want to really pass NAPFA 2.4km, good luck!

Tip #1: Start small

Start with shorter distances twice or thrice a week. Well, my teacher told me to run for 20 minutes everyday but I bargained with my body. I personally feel jogging/running for 1km twice a week is reasonable. From my bad experience today, I can tell you how horriblly wobbly your legs will feel when you have not ran for a month. Your muscles would not corporate as it’s so sudden.

Tip #2: Stamina

In relation to Tip #1, it is to improve your own stamina. It all depends on how much you discipline and prepare yourself. To be prevented are gas drinks- CocaCola, Sprite, Energy drink, Coke Diet as it affects your stamina. Although it has a ‘diet’ at the back of Coke, doe not mean it’s healthier. Yes, you can take one energy drink before the run but one is enough. What is most recommended is a balanced-diet.

Tip #3: Stretch properly

You need to be aware of which muscles you’d be using most or least. It’s best to consult a coach (PE lessons) or you can just research online! Google is our savior. I used to think stretching was senseless and couldn’t understand why there was a need to stretch. It’s like warming up your body and there’s less chances to feel pain halfway running (for me at least). I wouldn’t advice you to wake up and straight away run, tried and suffered, trust me.

Tip #4: Don’t kancheong!

Only if you’re confident that you can maintain the starting speed or get faster, then carry on. Don’t kancheong when you know you can’t maintain it, stopping is demoralizing for yourself. Keep your pace in a rhythm. What I usually do is jog while songs are played in my mind. Your mind has this magical power to naturally control your legs to synchronize with the beat of the song. It helps to distract your mind from focusing on how tired your body is and makes your run/jog more interesting.

Just in case if you don’t know what’s kancheong..

Tip #5: Drink lots of water

Ok not a lot to the extent you get bloated, but enough to sustain you for the entire run. Anyone who exercises can become dehydrated especially in hot, humid conditions (almost all day). There is a possibility of heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

OKAY, that’s it, hope I’ve helped! Jia you :)

WHEN THE COLD WIND BLOW
PURPLELIGHT IN THE VALLEY THIS IS WHERE I WANNA BE WITH MY ALL CLOSE COMPANIONS WITH MY RIFLE AND MY BUDDY AND ME-E-E!

3 commented that my hair needs a haircut soon! Haven’t cut my hair for 6 months or so maybe something new? Always cutting about this length (right) so maybe something wild and centre parting? Still unsure, we’ll observe in a month’s time :) Today was science and math day. My shoulders couldn’t handle the weight. Someone help me in chemistry, please?

BTW, my class’ noticeboard is amazinggggg.

CCA Open House in JWSS
If you still haven’t figured out what your interests are, this might be the perfect event to go to!
Ok why am I so friendly and persuasive? Just had a pop speech diagnostic test the day before -.- And I have a felling that I got the wrong format.
Anyway, I feel that it was a success for every UG as all the performances have improved compared to last year’s. Got to go around the school this time with mascots (who were melting inside), instead of answering parents questions at the booth as usual. Mac at the park with sncos plus ncc. GRENADEEEEEE haha

Sec threes take over
For the first time, the 8 SNCOs weren’t in charge of anything, we were just helping. It was time for the sec threes to learn and understand how we felt when they didn’t attend cca or came late or play during serious times. As the parade square was taken up by RC, NCC and BB, we had no space to practice. So we used the area outside cd room to practice our skit. Such a pity that it rained just when we transferred all the materials down. Wrapped the man-made buildings as though it was a present. Had to extend training till 6pm due to slow progress and video-taking.

(actually Im writing this on 14th jan)

Singapore Poly Open House 2013
This was my last chance this year for all the Poly’s open houses. Firstly, Singapore Poly is so convenient! You just drop off at Dover mrt and there’s obvious signs directing you to SP, even a sotong like me didn’t get lost. As I went there with Irliana, we had to go for two different tours, sort of. I just got to know that Hotel and Leisure course was first opened in Singapore Poly and it had opened up both HM and FM for year 3 students.

Well, for the course that Im interested in is more Media and Communication has sort of been the perfect fit for me. You can even be mentored by the Starcom MediaVest Group, which is known to be one of the largest brand communication companies. Im not sure on psychology, business and PR, but we’ll be learning that as a compulsory subject also. Overall, I find that the course covers all parts of media and tiny bits of important knowledge for our future careers. L1R4: 13 Minimum requirement: B3 for English and a pass for E/A Math.

Ouward Bound Sabah 11-20 Dec 2012 #part2
Air Asia with Ma’am Siti and Sherryl (Shiffa’s friend). First thing at base camp was to eat. When I was grouped with 9 other boys and one CLT, it was awkward. On the bright side, Darren, Andy and Kinnard were one of them. The others, I eventually got to know them better.

Matthew- NCC ACSI, very gullible and innocent/ Fermi- NCDCC, loved looking at shooting stars during our night duty/ Naeem- NCDCC Admiralty sec, wants to improve his stamina/ Kinnard- NCC St Andrews, doesn’t mind being gay (kidding haha), have the same interests as me/ Hafiz- NCC mat jiwang who loves his family and got homesick, also can get seasick/ Zhao yu- NCC, friendly and laughs like a spoilt engine, gullible and feels that I’m the weirdest girl ever/ Ibrahim- NCC, slow in mind games, cannot lose, a lot of initiative, funny like siao, racist to himself.

First day was bonding with the group and we named ourselves ‘Kinnabalu’ which was switched to Bambarayon. It’s like Bamba + Crayon = Bambarayon.

 Back-to-basic camp craft
Durian/ Jackfruit expedition
 THIS IS SPARTAAA

The tent pitching was different. It consisted of a ground sheet, tent sheet, heavy ropes and we have to make our own tent pegs (unlike the metal ones provided usually). There was a lot of comparison with what I usually get and what we had at OBS.

Firewood instead of solid fuel.
Parang instead of penknives.
River water/ Aqua tap pills instead of NEWater.
Flying cockroaches instead of normal ones.
Moonlight instead of torchlight. (reflection of sunlight actually)
Wild pigs instead of teepee.
Night cold wind instead of aircon.
Bloodsucking leeches instead of the cullers.
Rivers instead of puddle.
Bushes instead of toilets.
No trail instead of manmade trails.
Canned food instead of food rations.
Actual beautiful scenery instead of motivational posters.
Mountain instead of hill.

It’s an experience I’d recommend others to go through as well :)

ps; the rest of the 365 photos are on Facebook.
